Hallway Vignette

This is the beginnings of the gallery wall in our hallway. It features a lot of items with a spanish feel- which I'm really digging. You can really see how rich the paint color is in these photos, but I'll apologize in advance for the poor lighting and quality. It's hard to get good lighting in an interior hallway!

The mirror is one of a pair that I found for four bucks at a junk shop and I stole the hat from my dad when he was here helping us move. (Sorry, Daddy.) I've had the dresser since I was a kid. It now houses different odds and ends like batteries, hammer and nails, and a small sewing kit. It's also good for bed linens.

The bottles came from different places, including the ground- I literally found one of them half buried on campus at my University. Luckily, I dug it up without needing a tetnis shot, and cleaned it out for display!
The shells were a souveneir from my recent business trip to California
The painted wooden piece was originally a heinous green color and I painted it to match our old bathroom, which also had this same rustic spanish feel.

The crosses were purchased in various craft stores, flea markets, and thrift stores

The monkey candle holder was a wedding gift (Ryan enjoys monkeys for some reason and secretly registered for this when I wasn't looking! I love it though) and the brass lion candelabra in the background was also found at a junk shop and purchased for a quarter (!).

The plan is to keep building around this to cover the entire hallway. Funny how things that I've had for years, and things that are new to me all seem to fit together so seamlessly to make the perfect little vignette.
Do you have any special places like this in your home? I'd love to see pictures of them! Send them my way!

I adore it Chels! Is this when you first walk into the house? I think the way you decorate an entry way says alot about the rest of your home. This is an indication that the rest is going to be spectacular! Can't wait to see more.

Stef- great! get out there and be creative!

Rox- this is actually our interior hallway that leads to the bedrooms and bathrooms. Our front door opens up right into our living room, so we're still devising a plan on what to put there to really WOW guests when they walk in. The art we're in search of will be one of those pieces. That's why it has to be PERFECT!
